  • Looking for a new aftermarket converter.

I was wondering if you guys could recommend an aftermarket converter that could be bolted on my existing exhaust. I have a '96 3.8 Camaro with a Magnaflow exhaust bolted onto a stock converter and S pipe. Also, I was wondering if an aftermarket converter would trip some codes and cause a SES light? Thanks, Steve

Aftermarket converters trip a code about 50% of the time from what I can see. Some get an SES some do not.

Do a search for Catco cats you'll find what you're looking for!

are you guys kidding? catco has had serious problems with clogging after only a few thousand miles, i would recomend a magnaflow or an electronic cutout before the cat to get optimal performance for the price of the cat.

I've had catcos and magnaflow catalytic converters, so far I'm on my fourth, the magnaflows have lasted longer though than the catcos, I got mine off of Ebay now for the second time, 3" in/out. If you want to spend $150, Dynatech makes some sharp and supposedly really long lasting high flow cats, Summit has them for sale, they're called Dynatech Powercats.

I hope my catco gets clogged to deaden the sound a lil. I want a quieter set up (already)... LOL
