• installed my SLP CAI.... *UPDATE*

I installed the damn thing! I didn't even have to go under my car, I was able to feng shui the filters and block off plate along and it fit right in the whole (barely scraping one of the filters). I wasn't able to drive with it yet, but I turned it on and my exhaust sounds amazing! I can't believe how much lower and throatier it is. Quick question for those of you with the CAI. If you pull on black piping, will it move up and down a little bit? I'm sure it does, but I'm just wondering.

I'll update the post when I get home tomorrow about the gains (hopefully noticeable).

I CAN move mine if I try so thats pretty normal. There is just a black metal tab that rests down in a slot to keep it from falling lower!

My blockoff plate is slightly warped a little, and the tabs dont quite hold it down all the way, and it rattles sometimes, which pisses me off, but most of the time its quiet. I love it....great performance gain for the money.

Okay, holy crap! I reset my computer while I was installing it and the first time I got to drive it was today on the way to school (10 min drive). Anyway, I didn't notice THAT much of a difference off the take off, but once I hit 3000rpm... BANG! I couldn't believe it! plus, the sucking really isn't that loud and it sounds awesome like a Ffffshhhhheeuuu haha. Anyway, from school I drove to my girlfriends house (5 min drive) and it seemed a little faster. Well, after going to work and coming home, it feels almost twice as noticable! Is this happening because my computer is still adjusting to the extra air flow?

unhook your battery before you go to bed. hook it back up in the morning.

or you can buy one of the little hand held scan tools. I bought a pretty nice one for about $100.00

                      From the Modification Reviews...

"One thing you may want to do is reset your computer after installation, this will allow it to account for the added air intake and add the corresponding amount of more fuel into each cylinder (i.e. produce more power)"

Aha! Thanks for pointing that out. :D Err....more fuel...worse gas mileage?

Actually, I heard the opposite. From what I've read on the boards most people see an increase of around 1-2 mpg. I can't confirm this because I haven't gone through a whole tank but we'll see. I used to get 270 to the tank so I'm hoping with the CAI and a new fuel filter it will be 300-ish.

When you get on it you will have worse gas milage bc it account for more air that is going in so it gives more fuel but when you are regularly driving it as all this air to work with and since you're not on it it doesn't need that much fuel. or something like that... so whats the prize for longest sentence?

LOL.......WELL My dad and I put the damn thing on today... It turned out to be more of a pain the *** than I thought it would be. First I made a mistake.........I put the damn filters on before I put the block off plate on..oops. Then, getting those filters down into that hole turned out to be kinda tricky. Tight FIT!! Then, the block off plate didn't want to snap in of course..one side was sticking up because I put the filters on too far I guess (SLP's instruction definitely arn't detailed enough!) So...we screwed the side of the block off plate that was sticking up down. Worked like a charm!!

My dad and I were curious about how important the block off plate actually is? I figured it would be pretty significant if it wasn't there becuase a lot of air would just go into the engine bay instead of the filters. BUT WOW :D , I noticed right off the bat the gains. Very nice. Although I got used to it far too quickly LOL romping around my city. Now I need more power!!!!
