I know that something may get sucked in, but will the car run right with an open TB? or will there be to much air comming in? Oh and I am only asking because I want to make a few runs at the track Sat. without my CAI installed

You could do it ... but when something (rodent, small child, speck of dust) enters your MAF / engine, you'll be sorry you did ... And the CAI should help your time immensely anyway.

If ya have the MAF screen, that would stop all the large items, but dust or anything else small could get in there. As long as you don't drive to the track with it off, i wouldnt be very worried about it. I have ran without the airfilter before, but i still had the stock airbox at that time. Lots of the LS1 guys here take out their filter at the track. (so easy to do with the lid and all)Matt
\'96 Camaro Z28 M6
\'96 Camaro M5

Well thats all fine and dandy but I need to know if the car will run without filter, CAI, etc..... or will it just be getting to much air :D97 Red Firebird
Best N/A 1/4: 13.98
Best N/A MPH: 96.13
Best Nitrous 1/4: 12.49
Best Nitrous MPH: 108.53
2001 Pewter Camaro SS
GTP Stage II Heads, Pig Cam, Holley Intake, SLP Headers, SLP Lid, Vigalante 3600 Stall Converter, MagnaFlow Cat Back Exhaust, Duel Electric Cut-Outs
11.26@121

It will run without a filter fine... but if you suck in ANY dust it will most likely scour the walls of your cyls... Have fun! :D2002 5-spd NBM Camaro

I gained about .06 running without my freshly cleaned and reoiled K&N. Reset the computer, give it a couple runs(Maybe pull over about 5 min. before you get to the track, take it off, reset PCM, then eun it hard) Let the computer compensate for the new air flow. I been thinking about running open TB and I have, I think I run better with a CAI and no filter. When you are going down the track the air is pushing through the radiator, pushing hot air in to the TB. Not sure how much it affects it but I do not see whats really that restricted on the CAI with no filter.
