The other day after doing a burn out I heard I metal clank from my rear. I thout it was something on the floor but ever since that day me exhaust sounds a lot more muffled - like there there's a hole or something. I haven't got under the car to check but what do you guys think? My cat and muffler are less than 1year old. the pipes are the stock ones.

Oh, and one more thing - I have had this this rattle coming from somwhere inbetween the Cat and the muffler - it's been there for a while (even before this most recent problem). Almost like there was some metal debris in there. Do you think I could have pushed this debris into the muffler and clogged it somehow?

It's probably your rear axle and not the muffler. Also, try tightening the hangers, that might make the rattling go away.

What do you think went in my rear axle – rear gear? I'm not too sure but it does feel like my power isn’t being transferred from the engine to the pavement as well following that burn out.

Has anyone had a baffle blown out of place in their muffler? That might explain the muffled sound wouldn’t it.

I had that same metallic rattling under my car sort of near the engine last year... I was under the car while it was running and I was by my cat. converter and thats where the sound was coming from... I took it to the dealer and they told me that yea it had been internally breaking up and thats the crap I heard. I'm pretty sure that is what you are experiencing too. Just try listening right near the cat when your car is on.
