Hooray! i finally got my tax return of 1000 dollars and put a down payment of 800 on the SS hood and airbox for my 98. I went through a body shop who ordered from Suncoast Creations. The site says it can boost HP 25-30, and i sure hope it does! They said it will take 2 weeks to come in and stuff. The total came to 1618. How i get the rest of the money, i'll figure out later, but the point is, its on its way! [img]smile.gif[/img] :D :D :D Is that a good deal? I'm so excited about it. I dont even know why i made this post, i guess to share in my excitement. LOL

Gives more presence to your exhaust sound too... and since it's a ram air hood... it's lighter than the stock hood which is some good weight reduction [img]graemlins/burnout.gif[/img]

I dont have a ss hood so i cant speak from experience but the 25-30 HP increase seems a bit steep. Either way it will help and sound alot better im sure. And the look of the ss hood is fabulous. Let us know how much it helps im curious myself.

id say more along the lines of 5-10 hp but it will look sweet

The hood is going to weigh a hell of a lot less then the factory hood. And depending on the type of ram air setup you have and maybee a K&N airfilter i'd say it would add around 25 hp in the long run. Im not saying it's gonna give you 25hp on a beautiful sunday cruising around at 30mph. If you were down at the track or trying to race someone. That ram air would kick in a lot. And with the weight reduction there to it's gonna be around that much.

Yes, i believe that you may get 25-30 hp out of the engine. Low restriction exhaust with low restriction intake will help. Also, the exhaust mod will accentuate the intake mod. That is why I believe you may get 25-30 hp out of it in the end.

1618 dollars??? WTF??? Did you look around the internet? You can get that hood just about anywhere for less then 700 dollars. The box is only like 200 dollars. The price should be no more than 1000 dollars. Are they atleast painting it? I know that costs around 300-400. You might want to think about getting your money back bro.

For real, you got majorly screwed. And there is no way it'll add 25-30 HP, more like previously mentioned 5-10. Man you shoulda posted before you bought it. Try and get your cash back, I can tell you about 3493495 better things to do with 900 bucks than a hood. [img]redface.gif[/img]

I could see if it was an ss hood straight from gm but from suncoast creations that hood is 1095.00 and from tbyrne its 1084, that place is screwing you and isnt even kind enough to give you a reach around. cancel your order dude and tell them they are scam artists

Hood 795
Airbox 300
Shipping 120
Tax 150
Paint/Installation 250
I dont see this as being ripped off, unless theres one of those parts that is overpriced. The hood/airbox prices were set by suncoast creations, so i dont view this as a scam by the place i'm having it done at.
