• Performance gains between catback and just muffler?

Alright Christmas is coming up. Ever since day one ive been wanting the american thunder dual catback exhaust for my car. Ive been reading some things and i hear alot of bragging off the 80 series. How much different is the sound/power from the catback, compared to muffler only?

So far for christmas its Dual Flow master catback, racing stripes, and 30 buck cold air intake off ebay. Im thinkin that the money i save my parents from cat back to just muffler i could get something else. Let me hear comments on catback vs muffler. Also what else do yaull suggest to get with the money i save from catback to muffler.

Well you will gain MORE horsepower with a full catback including a new free-flowing and bigger diameter cat to match it. However, the amount of horsepower is still only in the 3-7hp at the wheels range. If you just want the looks/sound, just do a muffler - it is cheaper, easier, and tends to still put a smile on your face

You also might not want too many welds in your exhaust if you drive in snow, since they do rust out quickly.

you can get around the rusting welds by spraying them with a sealant you can pick up at lick summit racing.

do i need 2.5 in 3 out or 2.5 in 2.5 out? Crossflow 80 series works on our cars right?

                  for stock setups:

2.5" in / dual whatever out you want

                  for 3" catbacks:

3" in / dual whatever out you want

Stock pipe is 2.25" so you should be able to get it to hook up to a 2.5" in, but not a 3. Oh, and a muffler did absolutely nothing for me but change the sound, the catback (3") made all the difference. I put on the Hooker 3" Aero Chamber catback and a 3" in/out highflow carsound cat and it worked great till the insides of the cat started rattling, so in four days or so it'll be no cat, catback, and im adding headers too.
