I'm looking to add a SLP CAI instead of the crappy stock airbox with K&N filter. However, I was just wondering what the chances of water getting in to my engine was? I've heard many places that during rain, water can get up into the pipes? What is the likelyhood of this happening, and how can I prevent it with the SLP CAI?

There's got to be hundreds of members on here with this mod, and I have never once heard of anyone haveing water sucked up into their engine because of it. I leave the plastic piece that's there under it just in case, but I know some people remove it for better air flow. You probably have a greater chance if you remove it.97 White Pontiac Firebird 3.8 A4
Mods- 2.75\" exhaust, Dynomax muffler, magnaflow cat, SLP CAI, Hypertech 160* thermo, Fan switch
Suspension-Kumho Ecsta 712\'s, 32mm/19mm sway bars

Our Lady of Blessed Acceleration, don\'t fail us now.
-Elwood Blues

Yes...water falls down,, but there are also many factors that can contribute to water getting in the cones..if you remove that plastic piece under it, water can spray up from your front tires, or if you are following a car at close distance in the rain, they will spray mist behind their wheels..
In any case, I would not worry about water getting in the cones no matter what you do..And if you put the heat shield ontop of it, and keep the plastic on below..it would be very difficult for water to enter..94 Camaro 3.4 A4
T-Tops
In the process of an LS1 swap.

whiteshark, what is the plastic piece that you are talking about? is it the black splash guard or whatever its called that lies underneath the front air dam? Will that help water from getting into my engine?1996 Camaro RS Bright Red
3.8L V6 A4 3.42\'s
K&N Filtercharger
Flowmaster 80 Series Muffler
Y87 Performance Package

Let's put it this way, I live in Florida. It rains all the time here and I haven't had any problems, and I have driven through some BIG puddles. I've had it installed since December, and we're in the middle of rainy season right now, and it seems to be holding up.2003 Zinc Yellow Mustang GT 1 of 701
ET : TBD
But our shenanigans are cheeky and fun!
