Ok..ive been searching all over for some comparisons between different mufflers and cat-back systems and havent really found what i need. What im looking for is a cat-back system that is not insanely loud like the flowmaster systems. I still want a deeper tone, but i dont want the excessive noise. Is there a good cat-back system thats somewhere in between stock and flowmaster as far as sound goes?

I would say do a SLP Dual Dual system or run a custom one with a dynomax super turbo muffler.

flowmaster... insanely loud? umm i was going to suggest either the SLP or the flowmaster because flowmaster is one of the quieter systems i've heard. you want to hear insanely loud, listen to an LS1 hooked up to a rumbler.

I was just trying to get at the fact that i dont want a very loud exhaust system (such as the american thunder series).

you can also look at LS1/LT1 takeoff systems, they are hardly loud but add a nice little bit of spice to your exhaust note. most of the time the price can't be beat, either.

What do you guys think of the Flowmaster 30 series muffler? They label it as being much quieter than some of the other mufflers but still having a good tone, which is what im looking for. Im thinking of just making my own system and just buying a muffler instead of a whole system.

Dynomax makes a full cat-back and is pretty mellow compared to the others.

The 82-92 kit for 2.8/3.1/5.0 is a 2.5" system and can easily be made to fit the 3.4/3.8 and is available in Super Turbo or Ultra Flow series muffler.

Dynomax or edelbrock will probably be your best bet.

Just remember to be careful when you want quiet because if it turns out to be too quiet/loud, it's an expenisve mistake.

^ Not if you know where to look. Dynomax was a little quiet for me, so I went back to a flowmaster muffler for free and 40 bucks to install it. ;)
