What causes the rattling sound that some exhaust setups make during deceleration?

yeah, it more like the pipes touching other than hitting. also, might be something in the muffler like something broke off inside the cat or muffler

It can be all of those things and about 100 other things. Good luck. I have probably gone through 2 rolls of foam tape and still haven't solved one rattle I get from the passenger side rear at low RPM when the car is hot.

Oh, that's just backfiring from having larger pipes than stock. I get that ALL the time, but I actually like it (unless my engine is cold).

Is there anyway to prevent it from happening?

maybe adding a resinator or bullet muffler somewhere but not sure.

                      a bullet might

do you just not like the sound cause you know V8s do it too. almost every V8 with exhaust does it when slowing down to pull into the parking lot at meetings. popping and gurgles

I just got my carsound cat installed ant there is a rattle during acceleration! My catco went bad and the screens were gone in that *****.
If it is the heat shield can I remove them? What are my options? Not buying another cat, I'll sooner buy a test pipe and a sim.
