you need a spark plug in your exhaust pipe with some deal in your car that makes it spark so it ignites im not sure how its done

Alright.. this is what I know from reading other posts... You can't use a spark plug in a fule injected car because it'll ferk it up real bad. So so spark plug. You either can have propane or some other gas injected it near the tip, and have it ignited with a sparker or something, that's what I hear is the way to do it. Also if you just use the spark plug it'll just rise real fast, and won't reall shoot out the exhaust like you probably want it to. Remember, this is what I've read only on this board, I don't know if any of this is true or whatever.

I'm not claiming to actually know what I'm talking about here, but my friend Travis said that there are actual devices called flamethrowers that are made for that. I don't know, maybe try and run a search and maybe find out if they are real.

=-------------------------------------=
= AUTO-EXHAUST FLAME THROWER =
=-------------------------------------=

FOR THIS ONE, ALL YOU NEED IS A CAR, A SPARKPLUG, IGNITION WIRE AND A SIMPLE
TOGGLE SWITCH. INSTALL THE SPARK PLUG INTO THE LAST FOUR OR FIVE INCHES OF THE
EXHAUST PIPE BY DRILLING A HOLE THAT THE PLUG CAN SCREW INTO EASILY. ATTACH
THE WIRE (REGULAR INSULATED WIRE) TO ONE SIDE OF THE SWITCH, AND TO THE SPARK
PLUG. THE OTHER SIDE OF THE SWITCH IS ATTACHED TO THE POSITIVE BATTERY
TERMINAL. WITH THE CAR RUNNING, SIMPLY HIT THE SWITCH AND WATCH THE FLAMES!
BE CAREFUL THAT NOBODY'S BEHIND YOU. THE FLAMES CAN SHOOT OUT TWENTY FEET.

Got that off a "bomb making site" hahaha.. damn the internet

Like stated above...

DO NOT TRY IN FUEL INJECTED ENGINES!!!

Reason being the older cars used carbed engines and were able to leave unburnt gas in the exhaust. Newer tech cars are so efficient the amount of gas left in exhaust would be very, very miniscule. Forget 20 feet, you're lucky to get a small flame. :D

They actually sell "flamethrowing" kits that include a special coil, switch, and so on.. A neighbor had it on his 30s hotrod. It wouldnt work good til the car got warmed up. Id be careful with the plastic rear bumper on the firebird, those cool flames will melt that sucker to the ground. If you want to see big flames on a fuel injected car, just unhook the o2 sensors

Ive heard its dangerous to do that. Ive seen pictures of gas tanks blowing up and stuff. Do a search on yahoo.com. You'll find all the information you need.

In the older cars (carb's), you could run a little rich, and the spark plug would ignite it on the way out of the tailpipe.

In the fuel injected ones, even without a cat, it's doubtful you will have enough unburned fuel in the exhaust unless you trick it to run rich.

With a cat, who's only purpose in life is to continue the burning process more completely, it is even less likely to have anything to light off at the tailpipe.

Also, running rich can burn out the cat (they literally get redhot in some of the earlier cars that didn't cut the fuel to a misfiring cylinder).
