I have the rksport headers and the catco cat for my 3.8, and the only performance shop who will install them said it would probably cost $350 to install it. Does anyone know if this is a good deal or if it would be easier to find some instructions and do it in my driveway with a couple peoples' help.

It's quite doable on your own, especially on a 2002 where rust isn't really an issue yet. You just need plenty of time, patience and lighting to get the bolts off. Make sure you read up on all the leak issues people have withthe rksport headers though. you'll probably want to pay for a few welds after you get everything bolted up.

on an 02 I would agree with Matt, this is very doable in your driveway. give yourself a full day to work on it though. 6-12 hours worth of work to change out your headers. Then take it to a shop and pay 50ish for them to put the cat on.

i got a catco installed at the same time as my cia headers... after about 100 miles of driving my cat melted (internally) the underside of it had that purplish-green-rainbow heat treated look.

morale of story... i dont reccomend a catco w\headers

I've been running a catco with pacesetter headers for 2 months now, no problems. Sounds like you were running rich...

Birdman - can be done in your driveway.... if you want, I can give you a hand with it.

If you want a shop.... I know a guy that will do it cheaper... prolly $250 if not less. He helped me with mine..... pulled them completely off and on 3 times to get the dam things to seal.

Hit me up here, or shoot me an email at ellik@comcast.net

            Where in Pittsburgh are you?

Were on opposite sides of the city....Im in Crafton - at least until we close on our new house - but anyway, theres a guy named Vince that works at the Monroe Muffler on Noblestown Road in Greentree. He's in to racing and has dealt with and owned a lot of f-bodies in the past, hes the only reason I go there. He gave me a hand with my headers only a couple of months ago. It'd be a little bit of a drive for you, but Id go and speak to him in person.... just go in and ask for Vince and tell them that James Chambers referred you to him. Dont tell them that I mentioned a price or anything, but I am SURE they will do it cheaper than $350.
