Hey guys, I'm new to this whole scene and looking for some severely needed advice. I currently have a stock 2000 camaro. When I get back from my 90 day "vacation" in the desert here Im looking to totally do up my exhaust, air intake, headers, etc. Noise would be nice but I'm really going for Horsepower and torque. I'm trying to find out what the best way to go would be. As of now, I'm thinking of going custom built true dual X pipe 3 inches, taking out the cat and running pipe straight through, doing CIA headers, ram air with a functional ram air hood, and getting Cold air intake. To be honest I have no idea how good if at all that will be, so please lemme know. I'm not worried bout the money, just want to do whatever works best. Also are the CIA headers long tube? I heard those were the best as far as torque goes, again, I could be wrong, I really don't know Sh*t. Thanks

if u go with duals w/ X pipe. 3 inch is too big. go with 2 inch.
or go with a Texas Speed and Performance Rumbler 3inch exhaust with tips.2000 FIREBIRD NBM
Thanks to:
TSP, ZZP, TCI, Comp Cam, Whisper, GM, Lakewood, TrafficJamz Car Audio,HP Tuner, Alterstart, texas drivetrain and performance, BMR

1990 BLUE CAMARO RS
1980 z28

venom-vi vice president

Yea at first I thought you could only have one or the other, since I've heard on one side they basically do the same thing, and on the other hand they do completely different things. But yea, I do know you can have them both, whether there is a point to having both I have yet to find out for sure, perhaps someone could tell me the difference between the two and why having both would be beneficial?

I've heard good things about the TSP Rumbler on this site, I had planned on either going with that or the Loudmouth, but I've been told a custom true dual exhaust system, while being more expensive, would yield more HP gains. Is that true or would I be better off getting a catback like the TSP rumbler or Loudmouth?

It would kind of depend on the hood as well. My SLP RamAir HO hood works with the stock airbox. I didn't see any preformance gains from it, other then it being fiberglass so therefore lighter. You WILL notice much more with a SLP CAI or a FTRA.
A lot of people like the TSP Rumbler, I for one know nothing about it or how it sounds. But TSP is a quality shop with good people if that comforts you at all.

"It would kind of depend on the hood as well. My SLP RamAir HO hood works with the stock airbox."
If he had a SLP Ultra Z hood, which would use the stock airbox, he could have both... or even an SS hood at that. Are you trying to say that WS6, SS, and Firehawk cars cannot CAI since they have "functioning ram air"?
I am not sure on pre 98s if it would be possible... don't think so from the pics youve shown me of your hood.

I thought on the 98+ cars the whisper lid was basically a ram air type set up? I can see where you can have ram air off the hood and from a whiser lid type set-up but wouldn't that "technically" be 2 ram air set ups? I was thinking CAI was basically this (the first product on this page) http://thunderracing.com/catalog/?ac...vid=5&pcid=182Patrick
Sick Sixx Member
97 Mystic Teal Camaro
425RWHP @14PSI
Old setup:
330RWHP @7PSI 13.9 @ 106.6 Mods

the x pipe will give you more torque for sure. but most systems are dumped at the axle. an over the axle system will be very pricey. will have to use bullet mufflers.
the Rumbler uses a bullet muffler and is very non-restrictive. the placement of the muffler helps with sound and will sound better that the loudmouth. plus it is light weight and very easy on your wallet.2000 FIREBIRD NBM
Thanks to:
TSP, ZZP, TCI, Comp Cam, Whisper, GM, Lakewood, TrafficJamz Car Audio,HP Tuner, Alterstart, texas drivetrain and performance, BMR

1990 BLUE CAMARO RS
1980 z28

venom-vi vice president

I've got an H-Pipe with 2 Moroso Spiral Flows dumped right before the axle. I must warn you though it's louder than any other exhaust you can put on this car, the only thing louder is open headers. However, it flows.. :D2000 Firebird. Whisper Lid, True duals, TSP mail order tune, Built Tranny , TCI 2800 stall verter, B&M tranny cooler, Eaton LSD, 3.42 gears. Dude you're gonna make some bank on your deployment to the desert. Why don't you just buy the FFF turbo kit. Some of the people I work with came back with like $7k. You should get the Borla cat-back, carsound hi flow cat, and the FFF trbo kit. You could easily afford it with the bank you'll make over there.1999 Pewter Camaro
A4

165.3 RWHP 202.5 RWTQ

Mods:
Borla Cat-Back, Jet Chip Stage 2 PCM, Tranzgenic Cold Air Intake, Pacesetter Headers, Car Sound Hi Flow Cat, Custom S-pipe
