  • where to get oxygan sensor/socket to take them out?

I think I am going to change my O2 sensors for giggles, and plus my gas milage is retarded. I changed plugs/wires and noticed a little different. The O2 sensors have 62000 miles on them. I am curious as to if I should do this or not. I know there is a special socket you need for changing them out. Are they hard to change out? Please let me know.

    Thanks,
    Chris

Advanced, PepBoys, Napa, Car Quest....someone on here said before that you could rent them....I'm not sure about that. I've heard they run about $15 or so....I'm looking into ways to change mine....I've got 104,200 on mine :(

Also, be sure to get some anti-seize compound to put on the new one. Or it will be the last one you put on the car...

With my '94 I just cut the wires off the sensor and used a large deep well socket. 22mm I believe it was. I also had to use an extension and universal joint. You can then just use a wrench to tighten the new ones up.

The drivers side is easy and the passenger side is only a little tougher. Its funny that in the confined space on the passenger side you can't get enough leverage to break the old ones but you can get enough leverage to tighten the new ones adequately.
