Are the 2000 SS Y-pipes the same as the V6 y-pipes? Will it fit the same way?

no. They are drasticly different.
It could probably be custom made to fit, but it would be exspensive and there is no need for 2 cats on our v6.Keith - 99 'maro - White M5 - bumpstick and boltons - 13.65 @ 101 N/A

Well. They are drastically different in design, but the collector areas of the respective Y-Pipes are probably in at LEAST the same general area... and who knows, maybe in the same spots (I'm talking about same coordinate area).. and who knows, maybe the same lengths. Yes there are two cats... but they could be gutted or cut out... or a custom y-pipe for an LS1 could be bought.

The ls1 manifold flange is 3 bolt, the l36 manifold flange is 2 bolt. That's the main difference other than shape and size.
Heck you could unbolt the cats and have a custom offroad cat by-pass pipes made. Throwing the cost negative to the wind, it could be a very good setup. Certainly a lot of flow, over the stock y pipe.
Maybe down the road I could develop this, or have this developed. But I certainly don't have the funds right now.
Basically I'm talking:
2000+ l36 manifolds
stock or after market ls1 y-pipe

Well I dont know why you would want a stock LS1 y pipe because have you ever looked at the driver side of one. Its crimped to a very small size. Also I know on the '01 and '02 years the y pipe doesnt have cats in it, they are located in their own pipe that bolts between the manifolds and the y pipe. I cant say anything about the 98-00 but I know thats the way the new ones are.

The LS1 y-pipe is completely different from ours....it attaches to the i-pipe just inside the driveshaft tunnel, about where our s-pipe and i-pipe mate up. BUT, from there, one side goes to the driver's side of the tranny, and the other goes to the passenger's side. The passenger side cat is in the same position as ours, the drivers side is right after the exhaust manifold.
