I have done a number of cheap "mods" to my air box and i can definately say they have all made a noticeable difference. 1st removed the air silencer and replaced it with a piece of 3 in pvc pipe covered with carbon fiber sticker. Then i smoothed the air lid. Those 2 together made a notice difference through the power band esp top end. but it wasnt all that much. there was a noticeable raise in the noise from the air box. then i did the Free ram air mod, again more noise, but not as noticeable. I never had water enter the air box. i have drive on the highway in a pretty bad storm to and still no water. then i got my K&N for 60 bucks cuz i needed a new filter anyway. made a lil bit of a difference. it was louder and i could really hear the engine sucken. finally i got me a 5ft piece of 1 in pvc pipe 4 90 degree bends and 4 45 degree bends. i ran it from underneath the car into the airbox. it only took about an hour to figure out how to do it and made it work. it is def noticeable on the highway. all these together made a pretty noticeable difference. i think after all this im pretty close to getting as much power as i would have if a got a wisperlid or whatever else is out there. all together i spent about 70 bucks vs 180 for one of those other ones im not even sure if that is w/ the filter either. heres some pics let me know what u guys think.

Very interesting idea. Not as funny as me just porting my nostrils but nice job. I'd still recommend a whisper lid just because its bigger overall and alot smoother then the stock lid. Plus it doesn't have the annoying flex part and it has a 3" pipe going to the TB instead of the little 3x1.5in wannabe outset the stock lid has.

      Keep up the good work.
