Removed heat shield. Good or bad?

After almost two years of searching for a vibration at 1800 and 2200 RPM I found the problem. I have taken the car in 4 times to the dealer and every time they said they fixed it but as soon as i drive off the lot I hear the vibration. I had nothing to do today so I started removing things left and right. On my 4th time under the car i removed the heat shield off the driverside header. That was it. The vibration was no more WOO HOO!!!

Anyway, would it be bad to keep it off or am I looking at trouble? If it is bad I guess I could put a thick layer of BBQ grill paint to help damper the vibration. But aftermarket headers don't have heat shields so it should be fine right? Thanks for the help ;)

It sounds like he has stock exhaust manifolds.

Well its there to shield heat from the fuel lines and other items on that side... If you can try to modify it or snug it down - I wouldn't run without it unless I had to. Has it always rattled?

You might be okay with it off though, but its there for a reason.

Dominic is right. I tried running my stock manifolds with out them because I was being lazy and didnt want to put them back on. I burnt plug wires left and right. ANd my car started to misfire. It will burn up everything in site. They get really hot. I wouldnt recomend it. Get something to snug down the heat shield and it should go away. But I wouldnt run without.

ok... My exhaust guy said that I would be ok without it, and it was vibrating really badly... so here is the question... Where can find a new one, or is there something I can do to use in place since I no longer have the heat shield?

P.S. So should I not be running the car more than I need to? My mechanic, who I trust, said it would be fine without it unless I ran through a field or something like that. Any help here?
