ight i hear some things about the y pipe on our cars being kinda restrictive. so hee is my thought. i have also heard taht headers dont exactly do much for our cars. if so why not just make a the y pipe for our cars and go on ahead without headers. since some of the v6s have the tubular manifolds anyway. is this something to consider or do the headers actually help on our cars? regardless of the y pipe. but i was thinking increasing y pipe to 2.5 inches i think the stock one is 2.25 if im ot mistaken. any what is everyones thoughts on this?

umm...if I think I know what your talking about I think it would do the same as just putting a bigger pipe at the end of the Y-pipe, after the 2 sides join...unless you redo all the pipes coming straight off of your pistons....but that again is the same as getting headers...and remember you dont want to let your exhaust flow too freely or your gonna lose way to much back pressure...leave the manifolds alone and get a high flow cat and larger pipes before and after your car.... help with sound and may just be the right combo... ;)
edit: nevermind I just read your sig....still I think your gonna lose to much backpressure

3 inch goes into the cat already bu tthe pipes form the manifolds are 2.25 im pretty sure of that one then the hit a 3 inch collector before the cat im talking about increasing the pipe size from the manifolds to 2.5 just you would be if you got headers. cause at one time i heard that the headers dont help its the y pipe that helps out the most. so basically im talking about making a bigger y pipeno fate but what we make
http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/748167/1

You have basically what I use to have. Then I put headers on. Back pressure went to sh!t. I think you're wasting your money just by doing a larger y pipe. If you're going to get a cam and or heads and what not done then just get headers. Forthought is the key here.
If you do the y pipe you probably won't notice a difference and you'll be pissed about the what 50-100 dollars you just wasted. The only thing that I think it might do is maybe smooth out the mid rance a bit and help you clime a slight bit better if that though. But from what you already have I doubt that anything will improve.1 of a kind
Red 97 Camaro
Modifications:
SLP CAI, RK Sport Headers, Car Sound High Flow Cat, 3\" piping
3\" Steel driveshaft, SFC\'s, Panhard Rod, MAC Torque Arm
Manual Fan Switch
Best E/T:
60\' 2.152
330 6.271
1/8th 9.704
MPH 71.93
