  • TB bypass worth it?

yes i did a search and found nothing to help me. ok i knoe that this is cheap and easy, and it makes sure coolant does not go thru the throttle body, but exactly how is this effective, how much of a gain will it produce, and how is it done? to sum it up, is it worthw it? not money wise, but performance wise? what else can i do to make this mod more effective and what does it work best in conjunction with? meaning what mods need to be done to make it work better? a friend of mine is going to do it on his ls1 very shortly and said i should do it too because of the miami heat and the potential for detonation. please help. its a 2002 firebird A4

I don't think its possible on the later models, just 3.4's, you can do it on the LT1's and LS1's tho

if you want to do this on your 02

get a TB spacer from ZZP.. they are obviously a TB spacer.. and it will block off the coolent too..

i would like to do that for the performance out of that, but i hear that this bypass only costs about 50 cents at home depot for a hose and screws

          yeah, on ls1's

in msot of the v6's the coolent stuff is all built into the TB.. so.. its alot harder to plug/bypass..

ok i see. in that case i should get the tb spacer and it would do the same thing...? if so i might do it later on. this appealed to me because it was classified as a free mod by the big boys. i'll have him look at it and see what he can do, but if its gunna suck or not work i'll definitley end up with the tb spacer at a slightly later date. thanks

Cut ur own gasket for the 3.8s. Not that hard lol. Remove TB... cut gasket to match the one on there just don't cut the holes for the coolant. Instand coolant bypass lol.

The TB spacer is relatively cheap and worth it in my opinion, and it completely blocks off the TB coolant flow.
