Here is the result of the dyno test of a Pacestter KFX cat-back system:
@3000rpm a gain of 7 hp and 17 ft.lbs of torque
@3500rpm a gain of 5 hp and 13 ft.lbs of torque
@4000rpm a gain of 7 hp and 8 ft.lbs of torque
@4500rpm a gain of 6 hp and 8 ft.lbs of torque
The test was performed at Arizona Speed and Marine on a stock 95, automatic, 3.4 v6 Camaro with 14,800 miles. A test was also performed on a 95 V8 Camaro resulting in an increase of 17 hp and 29 ft lbs of torque @5000rpm.
This information was taken from an 1997 article in Hot Rod Camaro Mag. (mag #3393-5) The article did mention the v6 system has a smaller i pipe than the v8.
When I called Pacesetter 2 years ago,they told me the Whitney's system is manufactured by Pacesetter except a generic muffler is used and the tips are optional. They also told me the v8 system uses a 3" i pipe and the v6 uses a 2 1/2" that necks up to a 3" at the muffler.
No I did not buy this system. I posted this because it seems actual test are rare for exhaust systems on a v6 and the claims by the manufactures seem untested in the real world. If anyone has more information on a test please post.
