so, anyway, i had a clogged cat, took it out, gutted it, put it back...knowing there was a chance it wouldn't last too long...now, i got an ses and a misfire under acceleration...what's a good cheap cat? i just want the cat, nothing else...i can put it back in myself...just need one that will last and not get an ses light!!!

Uhh that misfire I would really worry about no cat won't cause that.

Yup, misfire is related to something else.
              What is the SES code?

no, the cat won't directly cause a misfire, but will cause the o2 sensor to tell the engine to change the air/fuel mixture and thu cause a misfire...or so i was told!

not sure about the code...haven't got it read.

Well let me tell you my little fun story about cats and misfires.

My car was running very rich and it just started doing it one day so I took it in to the dealership and they replaced the o2 senser, well before I even got home it started again so when I finally got enough time in my busy schedule to drive back to the dealership they checked the car and were going to replace the senser again and finally found out that the whole right side of the engine wasnt fireing and the car was missing very badly and eventually determined it was the PCM. So that fixed that problem and then about 5 days later the dang SES comes back on and it was a clogged cat so I had that replaced. Now the car is good as new.

The only reason I wasted all the time to tell you that was that you might want to have the car checked out cause it could be something serious like mine.

BTW 4 cylinder Trans Am's are not cool. I actually had some trouble beating a new V6 mustang, lol.
