I have a few friends with the Borla setup and haven't heard a complaint out of one of 'em yet. The only reason I bought the B&B over the Borla is because of the sound. Personally, I think there's a deeper more solid sound out of the B&B and I had zero trouble fitting it on. But it all comes down to personal taste. Sorry to hear 'bout your problem.

I have a 3" borla catback on my 97, and yea it rattles like a mofo, however the shop I had put it in were retards IMO, they put the cross member brace (metal bar near tranny?) backwards because it wouldn’t fit the normal way, so that rattled. Then I have a rattle in the back near the muffler, not sure where it is but it comes on with the AC and low rpm's (such as idle). This all said and done I still LOVE my borla, the look is incredible and the sound is incredible. A friend of a mine has a 97 bird and he has a flowmaster 80 series, and it sounds like #!$$%. If he were to cruise next to someone's 89 ford bronco I don’t think I could tell them apart, meanwhile I keep up with the v8's in growl factor. Performance wise I don’t know, I don’t drag to often mainly because im sitting on 18's so any exhaust gain I would lose in wheels/weight. Also my plugs are shot
This all said and done, sure the borla fits like crap, but with some elbow grease and a good shop you can rock it. Unfortunately imports still own us all with their downpipes
