  • don't buy a borla

me and a friend put in my borla catback about a month ago on my '02 bird

the thing rattles like a mother f*cker, so today I took it to meinike's mufflers, and they told me that borla fits like ****, and everyone comes in and complains about how it rattles, and the bends in the pipe are horrible

he tool a crow bar and bent the muffler away from the floor boards a little, but its rattling in many other spots, all he told me was to call borla and send it back

****in 600 bucks and it fits like ****, rattles to hell especially in 1st and 2nd gear, but the sound is pretty good

what do you guys think? take it back and get something else? or deal with it

I want to pad the rattling areas but I need something that won't melt or catch fire, which I think it non-existant

ive heard of ravin, but just about every catback souds bad, to moderate on a v6. the borla isn't even very good sounding as a matter of fact, i wouldnt say it sounds GOOD, its moderate though, not bad other than the rattling I guess, and its high pitchness when flooring it, like all v6 exhaust systems

got any v6 sound clips of ravin?

Borla is either the first or second best exhaust you can buy. I've NEVER had a problem with my Borla. Check your setup.

I disagree. It's still not worth the 600 bucks. There are no more performance gains the borla has than other exhaust systems. You're paying for the name, stainless steel, and lifetime warranty. Just my .02

I'm sorry but Borla tops all exhaust system. You can't beat that free flowing passage way when it is fully open. Plus it looks really cool with that quad looking pipe sticking out. People have told me, it looks and sound better than flowmaster.

Oh, another thing, I do have both Borla and Flowmaster and I got the Flowmaster 5 months ago. But if I could have one, I would go for the Borla. Go take it to a shop and see if they could do something for it.

this post is mainly about how ****ty borla fits, not about it's looks/sound

the mechanics kept saying that borla exhaust systems fit like ****

its mostly rattling near the muffler, its close as hell to the floor boards and other **** on the car, you shift it one way, a problem developes some where else

I have a idea, cant you put that header wrap on the pipes? It might cut down on the rattling a little bit. Im pretty sure it can handle the heat since they go on the headers.

funny mine doesn't rattle one bit and i've had it for 3.5 years now. you just have to find a competent shop. that design has been out since 93 and rarely do people complain. you can get the pieces tack welded so they won't move, but other wise you just gotta put them on tight as hell. requires impact wrench or alot of muscle. you pay $600 for the quality, stainless steel, warranty and name. sound and looks are opinion.
