upper intake manifold ???s

I'm considering taking my upper intake off and cleaning her out. Whats the best substance to use and any thing I should look for or do while its off?

I found that media blasting worked pretty good for my 2.8 manifolds, all 3 of them. also, don't forget to clean the egr piping & throttle body. I fyou have time, or if the gunk is pretty thick, spray in some foaming oven cleaner & let sit for a while. Also, if you actually want to get some more gains, an can afford to have the car inop for a while, get the upper & lower maniolds extrude honed. I caint afford this personally, but it sounds/looks good.
