  • Pacesetters, 2.5"...what cat?

    Like the subject says...

I have the Flowmaster American Thunder cat back. I got some Pacesetter headers ordered. I'd like to replace my cat, but I'm not sure what to get.

I believe the Pacesetters have a 3" exit. So I think that means I need a 3" cat. But how do I get a 3" cat hooked to my 2.5" cat-back?

And also, I don't need a cat with an AIR tube, do I? Just the O2 bung?

They have reducers to connect pipes like that. Example

Regarding the sensor, you can just buy a seperate O2 bung that the shop can weld into the S-Pipe.

You don't need the AIR pipe, but if you have it (like in Catco 6007), it just gets capped off.

Yeah, I haven't been able to find one either. But I'd like to keep my options open for using 3" all the way possibly. I do have another question though:

Do I use the pipe that goes between the cat-back and the cat? I'm talking about the one that makes two back to back 90* bends. It looks like it's only 2.25" piping.

Ive got that cat, first one on the page, 3in 3out, works fine, i had it welded to original s-pipe too before (the 90* bend pipe your talking about) i changed that out later. If it were me, i would just go ahead and flip out the stock s-pipe and put a 3" one in, but it is no necessary. you may throw a code too, but see first, and you can buy an O2 sim if you do.
