• Header question

As I understand it the tubular headers that came with my bird are pretty good as it is. So is it really a complete waste of money to get a pair anyways? If the hp gain is minimal will it sound the same too? If not then why? This car will be supercharged once I finish with the small mods if that effects it much.

if youre planning on supercharging, i would get headers. i had tubular stock headers too. you will notice a gain in HP, but not much. the SOUND is really in my opinion what is effected. just remember, the install for headers will cost just as much as the headers themselves, probably more.

the sound is wear the improvment is. Your power curves will get moved into the higher rpm range slightly as well.

The tubular manifolds are fairly good. but when you take yours off you will see seems and excess metal from the casts. Headers smooth everything out. Plus the primaries are better designed.

Bottom Line: HP/TQ gains are minimal for the money, however headers are a very good compliment to any mods after. So while you'll only see a little from the headers alone, you'll see more from other mods because of the headers.

I did my header install. Any by that I really mean I handed Pathogen the tools while she did everything It was fun and I learned alot. I would recommend doing them yourself. They will take time. It took us a full day and Pathogen has plenty of experience. So grab a friend, reserve a fri-sun and jump on it.

Most people will tell you to change your plugs... it is a very good time to do so!!

yea i reccomend changing plugs and wires. i had a misfire after my headers until i changed my wires. they were overheating because of the hear, so i got some thick MSD.
