• How many CFMs?

Hey guys I was wondering how many CFMs our car pull with stock throttle body and everything. In other words how is needed to get optimal performance? I just picked up a K&N 1000cfm filter for very cheap. Like free cheap so I couldn't pass it up. I know that we wont need 1000cfm just couldn't say no to the price. I'm planning on making my own Cold Air system. Well, just wanted to find out what our cars need in CFMs and what you all think about the 1000cfm filter I got.

In all reality, that filter probably flows a lot more, like 2500 cfm or so.

In the June issue of Hot Rod they tested a number of air filters.

AFE: 3,122 cfm
Holley: 3,068 cfm
K&N: 2,988 cfm
Purolator: 2,518 cfm
Rush: 2,836 cfm

So the filter the least of the restrictions for your engine. The throttle body, I believe, should flow 720cfm.
