exhaust rattling?

When im in neutral (or park) and i rev my engine it makes a noise like metal is rattling when the rpm's start to come back down. I cant tell where it's coming from though. Any ideas?

mine did that when i first got my car. i did a burnout and what was rattling finally came loose. my problem was the connection from the pipe that runs into the cat converter it came loose. so for about two days i was running my exaust strait from my headers untill i could get that little problem fxed lol. is it coming from your muffler or from up under the car?

Its coming from under the car but i cant tell whether its in front or back.

Ok, at idle i can hear it only if im outside my car and its coming from the front. When i rev it sounds like its coming from out back.

Can you see up under the car? can you see where the pipe inters the cat? check the hangers that hold the muffler up? mine are rattling right now, but my exaust is is aftermarket and i've got to get new exaust. lol but check all of that. also try jacking up the your passenger side of the car and try touching the cat and see if that is the problem just in case, because that may be rattling all of the rest of the piping under the car.

Mine does it also. ONLY if i back up fast or back up our steep driveway, i hear a very loud rough vibration. Sounds like its under the car around the middle. Under the passanger seat maybe

yea its where the pipe runs into the cat i believe. i guess that its not welded, but screwed into place.

its a cheap clamp that rusts easily

Mine did that when the cat shot craps, little pieces of the honeycomb grid were rattling inside the chamber.

i had the same prob i already replaced one cat and know this one is doing the sam thing the frist time it was that there was litil pices of cat that brok inside and started rattaling but it just started doing it agin and there telling me that it the o2 sensor theres alittil ring around it the moves abit

im having the same problem, and its really starting to piss me off, it sounds likeits coming from around the muffler area and not so much the cat.. any ideas?

yah - i just bought my car and she sounds funny too wen i give her a lil gas...the rattling sounds terrible and really takes away from the deep rich exaust sound, i have a high flow cat and a custom dual exaust - so ima look into that and see if its all hooked up properly (the problems of buying a used car)

i have the same prob...i am pretty sure it is a broken baffle in your muffler... also our cars just have a natural rasp to them....try putting on a different muffler
