Does Dynomax make a 2.75 inch super turbo muffler? Does anyone know the part number.

I'm thinking on going 2.75 mandrel bent all the way back.

Naw, they just make 2.5 and 3" mufflers. My dynomax muffler is 2.5" in and out. I have a 2.75" I pipe on my car, but it actually necks down into a 2.5" right at the tip that goes into the muffler.

What's the part number for the 2.5" dynomax in and out from summit?

Hey Shortdog - I notice you have a 3"in/out cat then a 3"in/out S pipe and the 2.75" Catback - is that from the Z28. If it is from the Z then does that mean its 2.75"in and 2.5"out. And what muffler are you using (2.5 in/out)?

I'm using the 2.5" in and out dynomax superturbo muffler(#17739). As far as the 2.75" I pipe, it's from a 97 Z28 and the last few inches going into the muffer is 2.5". I went ahead and got the 3" in/out catco and 3" S pipe just in case I decide to go 3" all the way back in the future.

If your muffler is 2.5", is there any reason to have 2.75" pipes, or does it only go by the "weakest link" or smallest diameter pipe in the whole system.

Whered you get your S-pipe, Shortdog?

I am going to try to put on bigger pipes myself, soon.

I went with a 2.75" basically because, 1: a 2.5" mandrel is hard to find. 2: Got the 2.75" for free. 3: A slightly deeper and louder sound. At first, I just had the rear section before the other exhaust mods.

Would it screw up the flow when a 2.75 pipe goes into a 2.5 inch muffler. I'm assuming the net output would be equivalent to having a 2.5 inch entire system. Would it screw up the flow when the air hits the wall as in:

                    ---------Air flow direction --->

                    2.75 2.5 muffler entrance

                    . . . ------

...or am I just being stupid now?

Actually, Shortdogs system is pretty good because the I pipe tappers off from 2.75 to 2.5. The only problem in terms of flow might be at the S pipe which is 3" out to the 2.75" I pipe. But most likely he has an adapter to make the two blend seemlesly.

Here is what I did. Buy a 2.5" inlet muffler since you can not find a 2.75" and then expand the inlet to 2.75. (you may also choose to expand the outlet also)
You can buy an expander.... or the muffler shop can do this for you.

Actually I didn't need an adapter to connect my I pipe to the S pipe. The muffler shop just welded it right on.

Ok, well I guess I'm about ready to make my final decision. Being that I know I don't want to go 3 inches all the way back and I want a dynomax, my only option is for the 2.5 inch dynomax muffler. Being that this is 2.5 inch, my best bet would be to go with a 2.5 inch mandrel bent setup. Going 2.75 inch mandrel or non mandrel is not going to help flow any more air because the muffler is 2.5 inch, but it may give me a lower sound. That would be the only difference.

Does everyone agree or disagree with this? Also, about how much rwhp should I expect adding a 2.5 inch mandrel with a dynomax super turbo? (with my slp cai, whisper lid, kn filter already installed) 5? 10?
