I am thinking of buying the SLP CAI for my first mod. I was wondering if water would get in it since it is lower to the ground. plus how would the CAI affect my 0-60 and 1/4 times for my stock 1996 Camaro RS M5 w/3.42 rear end.
and also how hard are they to install??
thanks alot

That is the best place to start from. I installed my CAI in about 20 mins. but I also had to rewire all the headlights..
As for the performance gain I would say it will give you around 7 or 8 rwhp. It will defenitaly be a mod that will give you a SOTP improvement.
I wouldn't worry about water getting into it. Unless you drive through a huge puddle of water I don't think anything will be able to get up inside of it. Nobody I know has had a problem yet.

Its not hard at all to install. Probably take you about an hour. I highly doubt water will get into it because the filters are seperated from the ground by a black piece that is located infront of the wheel.

don't expect that at all. it will make noises that will make you think it's going faster, but when you stop and think about it, you'll realize it's mostly phsycological and you probably won't be able to tell a difference at all. that's the way it was for me anyway, everyone is different.
How does the install go for the SLP CAI? I thought I read someplace in here that you have to cut something? I defintaly do not want to cut anything on my car. Fill me in please.

Actually I disagree. I had the stock intake on for awhile after having my SLP CAI on, and the car would def. pull a little slower. This was proven in a few races that were always the same result (friends of mine)
No water/hydrolock problem since the filters sit inside the splash guards. There will definitely be a performance gain with the SLP CAI; this performance gain will be greater on cooler days since the engine will be able to take in ambient air rather than hot engine compartment air!
Also, you'll find that with an SLP CAI, you'll get an even greater HP gain with a good catback exhaust.

No cutting at all, the instructions say that both filters will fit though the hole where the airbox sits, but I had to take off the splash guard and tighten the filters from underneath. It was a PITA but the results made up for it ten fold.
