• The best place to put a cut-out?

Before the cat or after the cat? Or before the axle? I'm planning on getting 3" cut-out.

BTW, what are the gains with this mod? HP/TQ? ETs/MPHs?

i put my cutout in place of the cat, i haven't gotten my car dynoed, but depending on where you put it will affect your car differently, i lost some low end trq. but gained on top end... worth it? i dunno, but it sounds mean as hell with the headers...

Put it right before it goes over the axle. If you put it in place of the cat or before the cat it will sound like *** . Plus if you want to keep your sanity from interior noise then go with right before the axle. As for gains my friend saw .2 off his ET consistently.

I am moving my cat ( so I can still have one ) backward slightly because I have an electric cutout at the end of the I-pipe- its l33t but running the car open headers was fun =D so I wanna get a 2nd Electric cut out. so I can regulate.

The cutout should be mounted right before the axle...the gains seem to varry, ive seen a gain of and .2 off the ET and more. That was with a QTEC electric cutout.

I was debating on cutouts for mine, i have no cat, and a dynomax muffler, i heard cut outs sound like crap. Is this true. Before i fixed my cat problem, with out the cat my car rasped like a 4 banger. Sounded great at idle but when i got on it u thought it was a honda,LOL. Now i put glass packs in place of the cat and that sounds better. I heard alot of guys talk about running a WS6 exhaust with 3" i-pipe works great on v6's. A friend gave me a I-pipe and muffler off a 93 Firehawk. Fill me in on what yall have heard?

it really depends on what you want, if you want loud, mean and nasty, cutout before or inplace of the cat, if you want less do it after the cat, and even less before the axle...

Loud mean and nasty all the way =D. With the RKsport header - And an Intake to me Open head just sounds awesome when u wanna scream. but with an electric cut out I can close it as fast and as often as I want =)

I have a cutout from summit racing and even though i dont have a cat, I do have a glasspack. (no muffler, just glasspack, but i have the cutout behind my ypipe before where the cat would be. I run .4 tenths faster with it open.

I want mine loud and nasty. I have a rather quiet dynomax catback already but I want to open her up at the track.
