Same cost.

        $250 labor
        $250 parts

I think its somewhere in the $530 range with tax and shipping. Adding the $60 resonators will increase the cost to just under $600 installed.

From what I heard, I think headers, ORP and B&B sounds nicer.

That "flutter" could be because of the cats.

I have yet to see you say anything constructive in this thread

Edit: OK, I've been holding this in for a while <rant on> everytime someone seems to pioneer something for the 3800 lately, you always seem to discourage it. And say just get an LS1 swap, it's cheaper and you'll be faster to start with blah blah blah. Me and a lot of other people get the impression that you think your Mr. big stuff. Last time I checked this is CamaroV6/FirebirdV6.com.

You like your LS1 better than your V6, fine good for you, don't come around here acting like you're better than everone else, because you have an LS1, or even because you hold the record for the fastest V6.

Oh yea, and thanks for giving AAACT my number when you shipped me the motor, and another thanks for not giving them my number when they called you. Fortunately, I called when I checked on it yesterday and saw "shipment delayed"

I'm sorry for stealing this thread Dominic, but that just really pushed me over the edge.

YOu refering to 9secdream? sure.. Dude I've BEEN there. I've done the whole mod thing tot he V6 and go crazy.. LS1 swap was the HAPPIEST thing I have EVER done to my car. I'm just giving people my honest oppinion when I suggest that.

You like your LS1 better than your V6, fine good for you, don't come around here acting like you're better than everone else, because you have an LS1, or even because you hold the record for the fastest V6.

I never ever say that. I only brought up the LS1 once recently and that's in James thread. Not in a long time have I talked about it.. as for the records, the same, in james thread.. That's it. This is somethign YOU guys bring up, not me.

Oh yea, and thanks for giving AAACT my number when you shipped me the motor, and another thanks for not giving them my number when they called you. Fortunately, I called when I checked on it yesterday and saw "shipment delayed"

They did not call me, I talked with a sales rep and schedualed a pickup. Thats all I was able to do with her was schedual the pickup. Truck driver came by and requested a packing slip and that was it. Hence, why I gave you your customer service # and tracking # and such.

Thanks for being a nice guy. :(

Dominic, we all have our own wants in exhaust. If you don't do a lot of WOT stuff and are just looking for that low end note, hey that's fine. What ever happened when the SLP Loudmouth went on a few V6's.. I heard some soundclips of them idling and such, but then I heard one of a car going WOT...

I know myself when I had the V6 and probably many other members of this board do a LOT of WOT stuff.. WOT note is important to them.

Back in the day for the first time, this was like in 00.. I had headers and an ORP at the time.. I took off my B&B at the exhaust pipe in the back... just open i-pipe bending over the axle with a muffler misisng. It sounded GREAT at low rpm's and such, but at WOT aroudn 4500 I swear it was the worst sound you would ever hear in your entire life. It sounded like a chainsaw with bad bearings cutting up a lawnmore being over revved with a swarm of bees attacking. It FORCED me to drive carefully as I was so embarrassed by the sound.

Just an FYI.. Not every exhaust sounds great on a V6. There are some flowmaster setups that sound HORRIBLE yet I see members recomending them. I often wonder if these members live in rural areas where they can't compare different V6 exhaust setups. I've heard quite a bit.

I still think the best thing you can do for sound is intake/ported TB/headers/ORP with a B&B or edelbrock. I had the B&B and posted many sound clips. Would you like me to dig some up so you can hear them? Epic has the edelbrock.. sounds damn nice as well.

                    • I think we just want to hear clips of Dominic's exhaust in this thread... afterall that's why he started it :D

Good work Dominic... you are proving alot of people wrong who said this wouldn't work on our cars.

Now let's get some dyno and track numbers to drive it home

                      • Yeah I understand Magnus, but I cannot record any WOT runs just yet because of my microphone deficiencies at present.

Once I clean the sound up more with the bullet mufflers which came in today, I will be posting the other sound clips. It doesnt sound bad at WOT, I will say that, but its about as loud as having no exhaust at all... It doesnt sound like a V8 at WOT, but it does have a pretty good note to it as-is.

If you like the idle sound, you'll like it at WOT.

I still think its the best sounding V6 Ive yet to hear...

                        • so your adding bullets as well?

Can you describe for me again what your complete exhaust setup is going to be?

Are your cat's removable? I bet it'd be interesting to hear it without the cats.

Also, if you can disconnect after your chambers, you might clean up the sound with running less pipe. You'd get more interior drone but you may avoid some of the resonance caused by the extension similar to what I had when I went through the entire I-pipe as opposed to open y-pipe.

Yes Im adding bullets to reduce the sound... Since they're after the mufflers they shouldn't alter anything other than the volume and cleanlyness of the sound. It sounds great right now, but I'd like it to be about 3 to 6db quieter and this should do it. I'm already having a weld redone and a tip moved (free) so I figure I'll go ahead and do it. This will be the final change to it.

The cats are not flanged, they're welded, so they're not removeable. It would be interesting to hear what its like without cats, but thats something I'll let someone else do in the future.

The resonance or ring in the pipe will be fixed by the bullets... I'd like to keep it going all the way through the back, however that is a good idea for someone else to try. ;) Typically the longer the piping though, the quieter the exhaust. The reason mine is fairly loud is because (Im saying this again for the thousandth time) the mufflers are not in the rear of the car. If they were in the absolute rear, GMMG style, they'd be far quieter. The resonators should put it at a "normal" volume level without getting rid of the true dual sound.

                              • Well after hearing the sound clip i can say it sound good but i prefer the sound of my edelbrock muffler. Maybe i will like it more after the bullets are put on. Something about it to me just doesnt sound right... in either case big thumb to your for making it happen!
