For any engine under 330ci, true dual is pointless..
Unless you're looking for some kind of 5,000RPM scavenging by using an X pipe - I dont see why it would be necessary. We don't even have longtubes to take advantage of it!

Im going to have my pipe raised however so that it isnt so much of a squeeze, I guess the guy thought 1" of clearance over the axle was enough?...

Basically, you end up having to remove the rear heat shield to get the extra few inches of clearance for piping. Dual 2.5" over the axle has been done on LS1s so it could be done for your car, however I think its overkill for ya.

I was just thinking that 2.5's would be a direct bolt up for CIA headers
 Plus it would probably have a deeper sound. I know it'll never sound like a V8 no matter what I do, unless I do the LS1 swap. I've been thinking of an LS6 swap though..

      • Sounds pretty good man! I'll be honest though, it's not that I don't like it, it's just that I was expecting different... I don't know what I was expecting to be honest... lol, but really, at idle, your car sounds very very similar to my setup, which is just a 3" carsounds cat, 3" I pipe and S pipe, and a Z55 Ravin muffler... I set off car alarms too. It's kinda weird how similar they sound.

        • I don't want to hate, it does sound good for a v6. but honestly, I had a true dual flowmaster setup that sounded a lot deeper and move v8ish than that. I have posted pictures before and everyone said it was too ricey looking, which kinda soured me on it. So, Dominic, shake them haters off and keep trucking, sounds great! (even though you shoulda done flows)

HAHA, very funny; for a second there I thought you were serious.

              ...

That was a joke right? Why would you want to put the stock exhaust back on?

                  good idea..

the first rev sounds like a fart.

the duals sound no better than a regular muffler.. definantly not worth these 7 pages of responses

like blazzin joe.. i prefer the sound of my 3 inch catback with a dynomax muffler.

I guess those bullet mufflers did not work out for ya? I am telling an H-pipe will make a good bit of difference. That and headers!

                    • I honestly didn't want to be the ballbuster here, but I was disappointed with the sound i've heard. First of all I think the 2.25inch pipes are way to big. You have 3 cylinders flowing through 1 2.25inch pipe, add both together thats like using a 5inch exhaust on your car. I think 2 inches is the most you should do, if that. The second thing is I would've ditched the cats and just kept 2 mufflers on there. I understand about the concern of how loud it will be, but thats like me putting 2 cats and 2 mufflers on my 3inch setup. While the H pipe or X pipe would clean up and help the sound a lot as well as balance the exhaust, if you want to keep the apperance of the tips it is impossible unless you put 2 dumps slightly after both doors (to keep it legal). But yea, when I was thinking about this setup I would of went with maybee 1.75 inch pipe, 2 mufflers and maybee some resonators if it was too loud. How it would sound? I have no clue

                      • The problem is pipeing. The more piping you do the worse it will sound period.

Open y-pipe is the best it gets for the V6.

                          • He's putting stock exhaust back because it's way louder than he thought it would be. NOT because it sounds bad, since I have the exact same setup being done on my car in two weeks, I've been talking to him a lot about this.

[Saturday October 04,14:10:43] xxi dominic: its way too loud

The only reason I'm still doing it, is because I like loud things :D . And I honestly don't think it will be much louder than mine is already. I almost have to yell to talk when I'm cruising on the interstate.

And a suggestion before you take it completely off, try putting the stock cat converters on. I think that will solve a lot of the highway drone you're getting. When I added my HF cat, it seriously doubled the sound of my exhaust. 100% truth, at idle, it's louder than my friend's neighbor's LS1 with a Borla. I stood right behind his car, and still heard mine over his.

                            • You don't understand. At 2500RPM with the bullets, 80mph cruising down the highway I cannot hear my 480W amplified stereo when its nearly maxed out... I am very disappointed in what Ive done and now feel like an *** because of it.

Yeah, sounds ok round town... no rasp, sounds good over 4K, but isnt what I want at all. :(
