Dom, spintech makes very low profile mufflers -- would fit your needs nicely.
You could definitely fit them if you tried to.
Course the question comes up, do you want ot risk the purchase of more mufflers that may not be any better?
I know at least you could make them fit. Spintech makes some fairly low profile dual/dual mufflers. You could put one in there right where the mufflers are now, wouldn't hang tooooo low. i would just keep it the way it is and see if it grows on you. when i first got my high flow cat and 2.75'' piping installed, i thought it was really loud, but after awhile i got used to it and now i want it even louder. theres no point in you just wasting money by trying out new mufflers. you could have got a b&b put on with the money you spent and not had to worry about the sound or loudness. i really want to hear this in person at our FL meet which is another good reason why you should keep it on. :D

Well, I know I am a total newbie, but I feel for dominic for wasting all that money, just to put his old system back on because he didn't like it. Been there man, so I feel your pain. Well, I've been following this set-up since it was posted up here in the board, and was very much excited to see the outcome of it. I'll be honest and say that it didn't meet my expectations since there were too many twists in piping at the end. I do have a question though and was wondering why he did not go with the following setup: True Dual Exhaust
I was imagined that dominics exhaust would look like the second picture from the site. And YES, I know it's a vette, but can this set-up work for our Camaro's also? It's basically the exact same setup from the headers to the x pipe, except the piping remains straight and two mufflers are added in the end of the piping ( Ugh, I hope my newbie-ness doesn't show a lot [img]tongue.gif[/img] ) Anyway, I am getting really interested in doing this set-up and following on Dominics dream of having a true dual exhaust for our V6's, but without all the noise. Can't this be done instead?

Which is the passenger side, as the driver side is a flex point and if you take pipe through there it will be crushed. As for the rear mounted mufflers I have no idea. I recently attemped a true dual exhaust only not to be satisfied with the results, and am saving money now to get a 3" mandrel bent system, and headers.2000 Firebird. I'm tellin ya dominic ditch the cats, chambers, bullets and just put a set of REAL true dual mufflers in there.. MUFFLERS... and it WILL quiet it down.

There are two problems with the setup on the Vette. First, the Vette has independant rear suspension, meaning that there are half shafts going to each wheel instead of a solid axle. This is why the pipes can go underneath the differential, because unlike a solid axle this part does not drop down when the car is jacked up. The only way I can think of to make this work on an f-body is to section the exhaust so that from the axle back can be easily removed when you want to jack the car up. The problem is though that it still looks kinda funny from the back since the pipes would hang lower than the Vette setup.
The second problem is that there isn't as much clearance for mufflers behind the rear bumper like on the Vette. Believe me, I've tried. There are very few full-sized mufflers that you can fit there and still have it look half way decent. You must still also give up on having nice tips because the only way to get the muffler up there high enough to not look funny is to use turn downs on the end of the muffler. People have used round Magnaflow mufflers in there before, as well as a certain ATR muffler. There is also a Spintech muffler that may work, but I've never actually seen it done.
There is also one other possibility that may exist for the v6 cars since they wouldn't need that large of a pipe. A company called STS is in the progress of making a rear-mount turbo kit. They basically send two pipes over the axle, one from the exhaust, and one back to the intake. As demonstrated here, they ran the driver's side pipe under the panhard bar but still managed to get it over the axle, thus eliminating the driver's side piping problem of the upper panhard brace getting in the way.
