  • Replacing Muffler with Bullet?

I know a bullet muffler isn't going to give me the same sound-reduction of a full muffler, but how much of a difference are we talking about here?

I'm thinking of replacing my faulty muffler with just a bullet, then having it exit a single 3" turn-down tip as I'm under the impression that will also help quiet the sound?

Is this a good idea, or will it sound like a civic running open headers down the street?

Just replace your cat with a glasspack. Glasspacks take the higher tones out of the exhaust.

Well I live in NW Indiana, where we have emissions testing.

Also, the muffler I have on there is bad, something on the interior has ripped loose and it sounds like it's rattling.

If your replacing just the muffler, I'd go with a Flowmaster.

I put a dynomax bullit on mine with 3in pipe all the way back with no cat. The sound from it was rediculously loud. Don't get me wrong, the sound was AMAZING, but I have to go to work at 4 am and my neighbors would have lynched me. Replaced it a week later with a 3in magnaflow, and I coulden't be happier.

Why not just do a cutout until you get a full catback if you don't have one already?

I already have a catback, the exhaust is completely 3", high flow cat et al.

Anyone have any luck with the moroso spiral mufflers? I've seen maybe one post even mentioning them when searching. I wonder if they're any quieter.
