• whats the difference between the 99 and 98 intake??

I always see people saying whisper lids wolnt fit a 98, and stuff, and i always see engine stuff from like 99-02... why is this?

    isnt the 3.8 a 3.8?

Also, i heard taking the MAF screen out of a 98 is bad, but it doesnt matter with the other years??

Also, what kind of drive shaft does my car have, a 1pc, or 2 pc?

On 99+, the throttle body points straight ahead. Before 99 (95-98), the TB points down to the side.

so, is it possible to just put a 99 TB on my car, and be able to use the whisper lid, and all of the other crap?

Well, it's possible, if you get a new intake manifold and completely re-do your cruise control, but it's not worth it.

I have a '98 Camaro and removed the MAF screen during the fall.. no problems yet.

You'd have to way to control the throttle, because the 99+ TB isn't going to just accept the cable from the 98 car.

With enough money and some serious fab work sure it could be done, but for all intense and purposes, it's not really possible.

I heard it causes rough idle... which im really not concearned with.

be VERY CAREFUL while taking out/replacing the MAF screen. it is very fragile. don't even raise your voice around it. you will see...yes..you will see.

if your car runs crappy with out the maf screen then put it back in. There is no concrete answer...yes or no to the maf screen mod. testing is the only way. keep track of your MPG and stuff as well.

the maf screen is intedend to help the maf sensor get good and accurate readings.

                  cool, thanks.

Also, my friend says that you can put a blower from a grand prix, but you just need to like move something (i think he said like a hose or something... i dont really remember)

Anyways, is this true? From what i found, it wolnt work, because it hits the firewall..

hehehehehe just move a hose or something

yeah, it would require modifying the firewall to make it even fit not to mention probably a lot of other thing not well known since people dont do it

I removed my maf screen, noticed no diffrence, i ended up just putting it back in because my gas milage went down ever so slightly, may have just been my imagination. As for the newer throttle body, be happy you have the one you have, i had a 99 and had lots of trubble with the newer drive by wire throttle body. I have a throttle body from a 2002 camaro, 98% complete, only missing maf senser, but you can use the one you already have. ill sell to you if you want it.
