  • From the S Pipe and back...

This should be a fairly simple question...
On my 3.8 Bird, I obtained an exhaust system from the S pipe back (Basically a muffler with pipes). This exhaust system was originally from a 99 WS6 before I put it on my car. The main reason I did it was because I wanted duals and only had the single outlet exhaust before. I love the sound and everything so my question wont really matter that much to me, but...here it goes....does this mod give my any more horsepower?
    Thanks...Ed

Probably not since you aren't able to notice the difference on your own. Mufflers don't really give that much more hp. If it did, you would feel it and wouldn't be asking us.

The "S" pipe is supposed to be up by the cat (looking under my car, the only place I see an "S" pipe is before the cat).

Anyway... do you just have the muffler from the ws6 or are you using some of the pipes, too? I was able to tell a difference in power when I had my 3" cat and 3"/2.75" pipes put on.

What size pipe is that where the cat hooks onto the S pipe? 3"? 2.5"?

I'm talking about the part of the pipe that goes over the rear axle...I thought that was the s pipe lol...
I figured the HP gain would be like that of the K&N filters...yeah, they add some, but nothing you can really feel. Anyways...I think its 2.75 inch piping into the muffler.
Thanks for dealing with my ignorance...
