• whisper lid is on(barely)

We installed the whisper lid last night on the Camaro.Iknow that the 98's are a little more difficult because of the offset but in opion the Whisper lid (though it does improve performance)is not made very well. The 4"vent hose is a piece of crap, the sensor is next to impossible to reinsert, and the lid itself fits like sh#t,to the point where the metal clamps either snap too loosely or keep popping open.We are using a k&n but this thing was designed to work with a k&n.To me the only solution is to duct tape the lid on or screw it down some how.any other ideas? thanks

You sure you got the right lid for your car?

My lid was a PITA at first too, the fit seemed bad, and the sensor install caused alot of frustration.

Everything is real tight right now, and I'm pretty happy with it.

its the right lid-----i installed an airaid cold box in my PT Cruiser,a Volant cai on a Sonoma and everythig fit well sure nothing goes as smoothly as it should, but compared to these other products I think Whisper could have done a better job for the cost

youre not putting it on right... there is a little plastic flap thing at the front of it, that is supposed to fit inside the air box then the clamps clamp down on top of that. kinda hard to explain. but its not hard to install, and they do fit decently when they are on right.

hawgs---my wife has relatives in Katy TX I'll just drive the car down to you we can pick the bugs out of the k&n together-----but seriously i don't recall anything out side of the box but it seems the lid doesn't fit over edge

the front edge of the wisper lid goes inside the box...like he said, it's hard to explain.

the outer corners (either side of the clamps) hang over the air box, while a little lip on the lid itself goes inside the box frame...

Jist make sure that the tabs on the back of your new lid are pushed all the way back into the places that they go. I had the same problem. It'll work.

Any 98 owners should really see my Intake setup. I just finished it a few days ago, and I am completely happy with it. It did take some grunt-work, but I would suggest it to anybody.

well take some pics and show us.. I was looking to take 2 pieces for 45deg angled silicone connectors that you might use on turbo intake tubing or something like that and make some kind of smooth piece for inbetween the lid and the TB but being I'm always broke I just never have ordered them..
