  • No Cat, 3" Piping w/o S-Pipe, Flowmaster on I-Pipe, comments?

I've been wanting to replace my current setup, and i would like to angle the pipe past the s-pipe and eliminate the bracket there to pretty much straight pipe the car. I am thinking of going 3", with the straight pipe, no cats, but could i put a flowmaster single in/out 3" muffler on the i-pipe and then just split off two pipes after it went over the axle using a y-collector backwards? I am thinking that this would sound pretty good and wouldn't hold back as much as it would to have a flowmaster crossflow muffler.

that would be alot like grand prix's setup. except they have two mufflers after the backwards y pipe. might sound good, definently would flow good i'd imagine. are you gonna buy the pieces or are you going to go to a shop and have them fab up some thing for you? i'm thinking it might be hard to make that y pipe fit over the axle. i'm curious to see what others will say about this. could be a new setup.

Basically the Loudmouth but with a muffler in place of the "resonator". Go for it, should sound decent.

edit: get a highflow cat on there, otherwise it will sound awful because there wont be as much deadening material there.

Muffler shop said they could do it if i wanted, i'm gonna use a Magnaflow Bullet muffler and a highflow cat with 3" all the way. I'm hoping the extra .75" and the removal of the s-pipe bends and the intertwining of a crossflow muffler will free up some backpressure and give it a throatier sound without losing too much low end torque or having a ricey sound.

Do you think a single centered 3" in/out 40 series flowmaster would fit on the I-pipe?? I think it would give it a meaner tone than a straight through racing muffler.

NOOOOOOOOO don't get a bullet muffler!!! That is what i had in place of the loudmouth resonator and it SUCKED!!! Get that flowmaster muffler on there man, i PROMISE you will hate it with a bullet on there. You need some sound deadening, just get a two chamber flowmaster one. Pleeassee you'll regret it with a bullet.

Will take your advice, I'm gonna put on a flowmaster or magnaflow if it fits.

flowmaster 80's are $79 brand new.....

but yeah, stay away from magnaflow. i've heard from a ton of people who's exhaust shops talked them into getting magnaflow over flowmasters, and afterwards they're pissed cuz the magnaflow sounds like sh*t. stick w/ flows...

I thought you were going with no cat? If you did then you would have a setup somewhat like mine except I have a cross flow muffler. It sounds awsome at low rpm's but at about 3,000 it takes on a totally different sound and sounds horrible when you shift and the rpm's drop suddenly. It was a great help for my top end though.
