  • Custom Ram Air

I am now making my own ram air hood(modeling off my hood and clay, making out of fiberglass...wont be gimp). This is probably a dumb question, but does anyone know what happens to water going into the intake when it is raining? wouldnt this cause trouble? what is done to stop this on GM, etc. ram air? This is my only question.

Well water in your engine will "hydro-lock" it and your screwd, time for a new engine.

I'm not sure EXACTLY how a factory hood looks, but on my V6 i had a SuncoastCreations hood.

It wasnt a "direct" flow of air. There was something that blocked it. Its like the air would have to go below this piece of fiberglass, THEN into the intake, so if the rain was flowing directly, it wouldnt fall in.

So the air goes threw the nostrils, then it hits a piece of fiberglass shaped in a "T". The piece of verticle fiberglass stops the air and the air has to travel UNDER it, kinda weird. I wish i could take a pic but i sold my old hood. I have a new hood but i'm not sure if its set up that way. I'll take a pic in the mornin and email it to ya.

Plus huge amounts of water arent going in there, the filter pretty much traps most of the light drizzle.

    Good luck.
