ok My friend has '98 Z28 that looks just like mine. He just got a whisper lid. I haven't seen it yet, but he says the only difference is smoothed out air box. So what i did was take the lid off my car, break the plastic lines that are on the bottom, sane it down and put it back on. I was thinking that it would give the lid better air flow. I noticed no improvement at all. Did I damage the air box permanantly or does this just do absolutely nothing?

You probably did nothing, its not going to hurt your car, unless you have some strange desire to keep your car in factory new condition.
I did it along with the FRA and Raised Airbox, Remove Baffle and I opened up the nostrills on my stock hood. Basicly I believe all the little things add up, so I have some definant cool air in the engine compartment.
In short, good times and happy modding.
