has anyone done this on a 97 FIrebird. the throttlebody and corresponding parts seem very diffrent from the parts used in this guide. Do I need to go buy a LT1 elbow from someone or can I use the existing elbow (which leads into a box in the center of the hood which leads into a smaller box that contains the filter and such
LT1 elbow is oval shape and wont fit, but at www.thunderracing.com they have one for 97s, I think its either 59.99 or 69.99. but if you decide to buy it, I would recommend getting a SLP cold air intake for $190-200(some places might have it for less) because it comes with the elbow and make sure you buy the one for the 97 3800 engines.

I have a LT1 elbow. Doesnt matter if its oval. Lets remember, its rubber. Ididnt even cut it and I got it to fit. All you need to do is tighten the loop and your good. What I did was just cut a half inch off to fit good.

Exactly. When i bought my SLP intake, they sent an LT1 elbow, one side rounded and the other oval.
I just squeezed to oval side to make it kidna look rounded and put it on. Worked fine.

My CAI is used only at the track!! And dropped me .3 off my E/T. check it out at http://www.geocities.com/twocents29
and click on Miscellaneous Cool Stuff and schroll down to CAI. It has no air filter.

hey W68, that setup works really well, but I don't think I could bring myself to scoop up "Road Air" like that! I think it would be a better Idea to just make an slp like setup, but with wider pipes.

Really? Good, now I can buy one for mine, I've been using a different kind of tubing for my cold air, but I think its creating turbulance, but now I know I can get that, thanks!

Haven’t done anything on the Camaro, but put LEDs on my truck headlights . And my oil pressure sensor went out on the truck so going to fix that this...
