  • Please help, rough idle due to Air Temp mod screwup

we were at the strip tonight, and mangus said not to run the resistor in the intake, so i took it out. Then the car ran a run .3 slower than the previous, and didnt run quite right, so i assume the comp had to relearn what had just happend, so i told him to shut off the car, and when i went to put it in, i heard a small zap, i pulled it away, then put it in again fine. He just turned the key off, he didnt open and close the door and take the key out. Did i fry a fuse? or does the comp just need to relearn itself, or did i even fry the sensor. Please help. Also, what its doing is when im at a complete stop its fine, but when im moving, and in neutral or in gear, at the 2000 rpm range it pops up and down. Thanks in advance.

So you have a rough idle after the zap noise? Check all the fuses, I doubt that its that however. And while you are at it unplug the pcm batt and pcm ign for 30 mins to reset everything.

              Just food for thought here....

My neighboor did the same thing that you JUST described, yet he did it on his Ford Ranger. He went about trying everything to get the damn thing to run correctly, I hooked up my scanner to it to see if there was ANY codes that could be pulled, and nada, zip. zilch, zero.
He finally went with a new PCM that I got him for a SMOKIN price, and that cured the problem right then and there.
You might want to see if there is another Camaro near you that you can swap the PCM out of, and see if that will possibly cure your delema as well.

Hope that helps, and I hope that this AINT the fix, they tend to get a bit pricey. :(

oh god, dont even tell me that, because i JUST got a new pcm, literaly days ago. lol, i didnt want to hear that, ahha, but thanks for the response. its not pulling any codes because i havent driven it long enough, ive been in sick all weekend.

*please let it not be the pcm*
