Im planning on purchasing a whisper lid for my 98 3.8L M5 but am wondering how it all works. How does this get more air to the engine...i know you guys might think its a dumb question but i don't see how it works. I understand Fast Toys Ram Air but not the whisper lid. Any help would be great, thanks guys.

It does away with the baffles inside the top of the airbox. It allows the air to flow alot easier thus getting more to the engine. It dosen't really increase the volume of air, it just works a whole lot more efficient than the stock lid. It also does away with the air silencer behind the airbox.
