  • simple exhaust upgrade

I have a 1994 3.4L Camaro. It has the little twig for an exhaust currently. Everything is stock on the car. I want to get a nicer exhaust, as simple as can be and cost effective... I don't have a lot to spend. Basically, I want two shiney exhaust pipes coming out instead of the little stock ones. A louder sound would be nice too. I do not care about performance at all. Just something to hold me off until I get a new car.

Ok so I am trying to figure out how much all of this will cost... I am a newbie so I have no idea what all needs to be bought.

If I go with the flowmaster 80 series, then I need to obviously buy the muffler which is around 90$. Then I am guessing two more pipes to come out of the muffler and then two tips? And then there is the installation costs. What prices am I looking at here? Correct me if I am wrong.

      Thank you!

well, the tailpipes usually are included with installation. Look to pay anywhere from as low as $70 to as high as $250 or more. Shop around! Can't stress that enough. And remember, you can always haggle if you think it's too high. You may also want to concider upgrading your i pipe to a larger diameter like 2.75". I got a 2.5" but it's too quiet. My installation for the muffler, tailpipes and tips was around $90 after everything was said and done. Good luck.

the flowmaster will cost you $80-100, depending on the tips $40-80, and installation $50-$75
your looking at a little under $150-200

Jason deffinately is showing the cheapest way to get two tips. But there wont be much of a sound difference.

If you were gonna do a complete catback, Id say get the Edelbrock catback (V8 model) and a reducer to go right after the cat.

Thats not exactly what I did. I got the V6 kit and it chokes down to stock pipe farther behind the cat.

If I do anything else to my exhaust, it would be to replace the I-pipe with a full 3 incher and a catco.

Then you have to add tips to the catback.

All in all you'd spend about $400 depending on tips.

280 for the kit, 20 for the reducer, and then however much you spent on tips.

That link says for 98 models and higher... Anyways I think I am gonna go wiht the flowmaster 80 series, it sounds about in my pricerange. What do I do about tailpipes, does the muffler shop provide them or does it come with the muffler? And what tips should I use... I don't want huge pipes coming out the back, just something small, nice looking. :D

When I got my first flowmaster muffler, it came with 2.5" mandrel bent tailpipes. You will have to pay extra for tips. Muffler, tailpipes and tips cost me around $280 including tax and labor. Since then, I switched to a dynomax muffler, then switched back to the flowmaster along with upgrading my I pipe to 3" and a high flow cat. No headers yet, but I'm still satisfied. ;)
