Yes, that is the Y-Pipe. It is a 2.25" heatshield with a smaller pipe inside it. I think the smaller pipe is 1 3/4" I think. On my car the inner pipe eventually began rattling on the outer pipe so I had them welded together! I believe the Y-Pipe from 97 LT1 Z28 or TransAm will work with maybe minor modifications. My Y-pipe(94 3.4 Liter) is 2.5 inch and it doesn't have a smaller pipe in the middle of it.....hmmmmmmm.I have a straight pipe where the cat used to be, it's expanded to fit over 2.5 on one end and shrunk to fit 2.25 on the other, and welded. The I-pipe is 2.25, the Y-pipe is 2.5, the Straight pipe is 2.5. Weird, i took my y-pipe off yesterday, it's totally hollow, no smaller pipe. Weird.

Off your engine are the manifolds, off the manifolds is the Y-pipe(shaped like a Y, in from both manifolds, out to cat), off the Y-pipe is the cat, off the cat is the I-pipe, which goes back to the muffler. Off the muffler are the tips. Many people call the hump of the I-pipe that goes over the rear axle the S-pipe. So, technically the S-pipe is between the I-pipe and the muffler, I call it all the I-pipe though. Hope this helps. oki thanks alot Bob. I was wondering what all those damn letters stood for. I figured Y-pipe was from the manifolds to the cat when ilooked under ther today and saw the Y. I just couldnt figure out the I-pipe. I see it now though lol
