  • Who has P&P their stock throttle body and maf sensor???

Of all you guys who've ported and polished their maf sensors and throttle bodies, have you guys gotten any hp/tq gains or better throttle response from doing it?

How are you going to polish those little wires? That's what your MAF sensor is, just two wires. I was curious about this also because I saw pictures of Magnus's MAF sensor housing but finnally realized that he has an older car and his is totally different. I was looking at modifing this to keep it from hindering the air flow so much, either by shortening the down tube on there or by adding material to the back of the down tube to make the air less turbulant and flow faster around the big black plastic rectangle.

If you mod this though, you run a risk of your car not running correctly because it can't get the proper reading because it was designed that way.

If you do figure a way to modify and it working, I would be very interested.

As for the polish, I might try that this summer since I found that my roommate has a dremel that he doesn't know he has.

JC don't even try to port or polish the maf sensor!!!!! That's a 50 plus dollar mistake!!

And as for PNP the TB, I wouldn't unless you have a maft or maft+ and some scanning software like autotap.

I have done the deed ... and like Seppo say's it's a royal pain unless you have autotap or something similar.

I removed the bar between the maf "housing" and the TB and polished everything up good, including the maf "venturi". Please remove your maf sensor before doing this, and expect to spend about 2-3 hours to get it right. Now the kicker, when I first attempted this, I thought I'd just cut of the maf metering plate (behind the maf venturi assy) at the same level as the maf venturi and it would be OK ... NOT. The car ran like sh*t ...
I had to remove the metering plate totally. Now the car runs well, except ... if you take out the maf screen, the turbulence over the sensor is much worse than before p-n-p. I had to leave it in.

Autotap says I have increased the mass flow at idle thru WOT. In closed loop I run well at stoichiometric, but at WOT I run rich (about 11.8:1), so yes I still need a maft+.

        Have fun ... :D

so if it was programmed right, would you have seen any gains out of it? if so, how much hp/tq?

Don't know ... haven't finished tuning and haven't dyno'd it yet. But I can definitely feel the difference in the throttle response !

When I get it dyno'd, I will post the results.
