this has been confusing me for quite some time now...

my car has dual exhaust with turndowns. it doesn't say any brand name on the muffler, so that isn't an option when it comes to finding out what exactly it is. i've noticed something though; one other firebird in my town has the Y87 package and it has what looks like the exact same exhaust as mine. another firebird has the same exhaust as well.

so there's 3 firebirds, 1 Y87 (not mine), and all 3 have the same exhaust. i know our cars didn't come stock with dual exhaust unless it has the Y87 package, so does anybody have any idea as to what the hell my exhaust is?

Looks like someone upgraded your exhaust to the Y87 exhaust. Spooky.

i just found it too big of a coincidence that two firebirds in the same small *** town had their original owners upgrade the exhaust to the Y87...

Could have just been a Midas/Mieneke replacement muffler special. Pretty much anything from 82-02 could use the standard cross-flow muffler, and if you've ever noticed I believe all the 3rd Gens with dual-out mufflers have turned down tips too.

Check for a clamp on the muffler inlet. If it's welded or has a U-clamp you know it's not stock.

yeah... dual exhaust with turndowns, or if you have W68, it had oval tips.
