• Will removing/hollowing cat throw codes?

will it throw a code? i heard the O2 senser in the cat will throw a code? can i move the senser and it will be good? cause i like my SES light it lets me know when somethings wrong, i dont want it on all the time because its basically useless then and better to disconnect it. any Help would be appricated.

Yea, you can get a O2 Sims to fix that problem.
They are only like $60. Cheaper than getting a high flow cat

on your car since its a 95 o2 sims shuld work..

get a cat (whatever brand).. and an o2 sim.. then you wont have problem..

it seems that mostly 2000 and up cars have the o2 sim problem..

It will definatley throw codes. I know on my car it likes to re-set the same code over and over again. You shouldn't hollow out the cat though. Because it is not a straight threw pipe. Your car will sound like every bolt in it is coming loose. You know how you get those annoying rattling sounds if your cat is clogged? It will sound like that but worse.

i wasnt going to hollow it out. i was gonna replace it with a high flow cat, or just pipe, or a resonator, something like that. do you think it will still sound bad ted? i have heard a stock car with a pipe in place of the cat and it didnt sound bad, but i heard hollowed cats sound bad on newer cars?

Mine threw a code after driving for 2 hours. Also, 2nd gear will be a dog, and it stinks and lightly smokes for a week or so, and it sounds like the worst freakin exhaust leak for a few weeks until it breaks in.

my 95 didnt have O2 sensors,so I have a resinator inplace of the cat.U dont want just a pipe in place,It will sound Raspy(ricy) and u will lose power. So go with the resintator And u have a 3.8 right so U have to get a O2 sim.

Once I got my new exhaust it threw a code after about a week. But the sound is soooo worth not having a cat on there.

02firebirdguy, what did you do to get rid of the codes?

Any adverse affects?

Where, and how many oxy sensors are on our 02's? I have not looked yet.

When using a sim, do you have to replace all of the sensors with a sim?

Pros of a sim?

Cons of a sim?

Thanks, <br />JAM<p>02 Firebird GT

we have a total 3 O2s. 1 after each manifold and 1 after the cat. the one after the cat is the only one you need to put a sim in to. there arent really any cons of o2 sims.

So pretty much from what I have read putting in a strait pipe, OR a bullet/glass pack eliminates the "rice" high pitch poping noise usually associated with the v6 free type flowing exhausts, and the replacing the last single 0x sens you just mentioned keeps the computer happy?

Did I get it right?

i think. im getting bigger pipe and duel tips though too. i heard we got 2 sensors in the manifolds and one in front of and behind the cat. do we gotta put a sim in the one in front of the cat too? or just behind? and do you think it will throw a code with just a bullet muffler there and an O2 sim?
