• Got my new exhaust!

Well I got part of it on the RS. Got the American Thunder Flowmaster 2.5, the one meant for the 3.8. Next the cat is coming off and replacing with the Dynomax bullet muffler. The cat back sounds pretty good, it will sound much better after it burns in though. But it has a nice deep tone to it, probably due to the extra resonator on the I pipe. Only thing I noticed is the pipes rattle against the car (think the S pipe) when I hit a bump or sometimes when I dog it, will have the shop fix that. Anyone else have that problem? Will be getting the Dynomax on tomorrow, will let you guys know how it goes. I did notice a power gain with the catback. Should notice more after the Dynomax, and of course when I get the Fast Toys ram air with lid.

I believe it's the support brace you're talking about. Mine rubbed also, but I bent it down with some wire pliers and the rattle is nomore. ;)

I'll just have the shop do it. Only $50 for them to weld the catback!!! Talk about a deal. They said, we can tell you spent a lot of money on all this so we wont charge you much. I couldn't believe I heard that.

Its quiet at idle, but thats why I'm putting the Dynomax bullet muffler in. But I cant really judge the Flowmaster yet, it was installed today, far from being burned in. Will be quite a bit louder with that, more rumble too.

The 80 is quiet at idle, but that's the only time its quiet. Congratulations on your new exhaust! They may not have tightened down the brace. They didn't when I got mine put on and the tailpipes would sway back and forth and hit the frame.

I got the Dynomax bullet muffler in place of the cat and WOW! Made it much better. It sounds awesome, has the deep V8 tone and is loud. And this is the first day, after it burns in it will be much better. I suggest this to anyone who doesn't have emissions.

Sup John!

Good to hear the exhaust worked out for ya. OK guys we got 2 cars running this setup now. Let's work on getting the whole board hooked up. That is, if they don't have emissions testing hehe

Later!

How much does the billets cost? Iam running the headers with no cat and the american thunder with the specail resinator. When i let off the gas at high rpms and let the gear slow me down i sound like rice, but when i am at wot it sounds pretty good. Iam not as concerned as i used to be I'am a 6 theres no way of avoiding that so .

Some day Ill get my 8, but I'am only 19 I can't complain.

Well I have the M5 and when I let the gears slow me down, it sounds freakin awesome, has that low rumble and all. I have no rice at all. Everyone thinks I have an LS1 in it already, had a GT and Bullit Mustang come up wanting to race because they thought it was a LS1. And the best part is its only been in a day, it will burn it nicely and sound even better. I recommend this for everyone who doesn't have emissions. 2002firebirdguy deserves the credit, he talked me into doing it. I had to spend about 300 bucks for the setup, but its worth every dollar. Hope more of you try this.

I would really like to hear a clip! That does sound like a good setup! I live in Maryland, where they do test. :(

I recently got tested, and I'm good till 2005. How does maryland check?

Somebody's gotta get a sound clip with this setup! I have a dynomax cat back and I want to put a bullet muffler in place of the cat. Just want to hear a sound clip of this before I do it.
How much louder was it after the Bullet mufflet install?

It was a good bit louder after the bullet muffler. Much meaner sounding too. I was riding around a while today letting it burn in and it did a little. But its going to get much better, especially with what 2002firebirdguy says. Its getting better but there went the SES light, but I dont care, I know its because of the cat and will get that taken care of later. Next mod for me is the Fast Toys Ram Air with lid. Should help with hp as well as sound. I'll get some sound clips when its done burning, so then you guys will hear the exhaust at its best.
