After hearing my friends exhaust the other day i think I may want a new muffler, cuz a whole new cat back would be too expensive i feel. Would changing my muffler change it all, all my friend had was an 80 series on a 3.4l manual and at idle and up to about 3500rpm is sounded real good, nice throaty rumble and everything, and when he lets off the gas it even does that like rumbly throaty coughing sound that is bad ***

mine doesnt have that, and starts gettign ricey above 3k rpm, and never really has much of a rumble, i got full cat back and high flow cat

any suggestions on a new muffler, right now i got american thunder cat back with 80 series muffler, would going with like a borla or dynomax or some other muffler make it sound better, it is plenty loud I just dont really like how it sounds, basically i just want it to sound good at idle and when cruisng at low rpms, a nice thoaty rumble like my friends....any help????

    i got a 2k v6 auto btw

I am in the same boat. I hate my flowmaster. It is loud, but other than that not good. Now I have a Z28 Take-Off, and I still dont like it it has a fake ping sound to it. I am thinking my cat has blown out or something and makin it sound different. I heard a 40series flowmaster and it sounded good. Its the only V6 fbody id say sounded acceptable to me (that I have heard).

I was getting tired of the loudness of my flowmaster 40 series also so about a week ago i welded in a "cherry bomb" on my i pipe before the flowmaster so i have 2 mufflers . It sounds really deep until about 3k rpms and then it sounds a little louder than stock, no raspiness. It made the flowmaster a lot mellower, but it still hits the sweet spot at aout 2k rpms in 4th gear

go with a TSP rumbler or Loudmouth, although the loudmouth is quite loud...Ive got a flo80, and i hate it mucho.

the rumbler is just as loud as the loudmouth only not as raspy in the top end. it is a great exhaust, just be ready for some noise.
